Within the never-ending quest to attract a younger crowd to casinos, MGM Resorts has announced that a nightclub that is former the Luxor in nevada will reopen as an esports arena.
The Luxor is remodeling its nightclub that is now-defunct LAX an esports arena. The aim is to pull in a younger demographic, not as enchanted by traditional slot machines as their parents.
The company has entered into a deal with Allied Esports and Esports Arena to develop a dedicated venue for gamers at the now closed LAX nightclub. The 30,000-square-foot space will have a multi-level arena complete with competition phase, LED video wall, telescopic seating, day-to-day gaming channels, a personalized food and beverage offering, and a state-of-the-art streaming and television-quality production studio.
Niklas Rytterstrom, general manager of Luxor, believes that esports is the future and will be one of the more popular features at the Strip resort, once it is completed in June 2018.
‘Our company is the leader in the entertainment industry and recognizes the exciting growth in the esports industry,’ he said. ‘ Using this partnership, we will introduce a new experience to the market, yet again elevating the town’s vast activity offerings.’
